A Hindu Munnani functionary Sasikumar was hacked by a group of persons at SubramaniampalayamFollowing the murder of Hindu Munnani activist and PRO Sasikumar in Thursday night, shops and commercial establishments remained closed on Mettupalayam Road, Sanganoor Road, Sathyamangalam Road and other parts of the city. Schools along Mettupalayam Road and also in other parts of the also downed shutters fearing safety of students. Government and Coimbatore Corporation run schools functioned as usual. The Coimbatore City Police have beefed security at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where Sasikumar's body has been kept for post mortem. ​Tense moments prevailed outside the CMCH and police cordoned off the area with riot combat vehicles, water canon and vajra.
