more-inSchool children always looked up to games periods to play around and de-stress themselves but the students of National Academy schools here take interest in making seed balls before hitting the grounds as they set to make one crore seed balls to make the arid district green. While the students of National Academy schools produced the seed balls, the Vithaigal Amaippu, supported by Athma Karthik, Jayam Murali and Leena Senthilkumar, coordinated with government schools to take the seed balls to the fields. “We plan to cover one school every week and drop one crore seed balls by July next year,” they said. The authorities were also building a seed bank and encouraged students to bring seeds of fruit-bearing trees. Two to four seeds were inserted in each ball and the programme would go a long way in making the arid district green, he said.
