Thirty years ago, on the morning of September 18, 1992, an explosion underground at Yellowknife’s Giant Mine killed nine people. But I do want to draw your attention to a podcast published by CBC North this week, titled Giant: Murder Underground. At times, the series is brutally hard listening. Those moments are presented with care and sensitivity in episodes that explore the complexities of what happened at Giant and in Yellowknife. Yellowknife in 2022 may not be as divided as it was in 1992 but the world, more generally, is now a polarized and angry place, particularly online.
