Most ‘half-hour’ shows that you see on news television are 20-22 minutes long; most ‘one hour’ shows are 40-44 minutes long. So we have 44 minutes for the Ramjas College conundrum, we have 44 minutes for the Kashmir pellets issue, we have 44 minutes for the impact of Trump on H1B visas, we have 44 minutes for a gang-rape, for a naxal attack, for a drunken driving issue; we have 44 minutes for anything, however important it may be. That’s 44 minutes for the news, the views of experts and talking heads, the debate (if there is one) and the analysis or comment form the channel. This demystification of news cannot be done in 44 minutes. And need not be done in 44 minutes.
