In the Grammys process, 13,000 voting members cast ballots on thousands of eligible recordings submitted for consideration. “This year, 30 artists that were not selected by the membership were added to the possible nomination list,” Dugan’s complaint stated. “Voting members make their choices based solely on the artistic excellence and technical merits of eligible recordings,” he said in a statement. A previous allegation of sexual assault against former Recording Academy President Neil Portnow was cited in Dugan’s complaint.
