A policeman was shot by muggers in front of a check post at Chittagong city’s Sholoshahar area on Friday. Severely wounded, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Abdul Malek was taken to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for treatment. The incident took place at around 4:00pm, when the police officer asked two motorcycle riders to stop at the check post. The motorcycle rider opened fire at the police and fled, but the other rider was detained at the location, confirmed Panchlaish police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohiuddin Mahmud. ASI Alauddin Talukder of CMCH police outpost told the Dhaka Tribune that the bullet hit the injured policeman two inches above his right knee.
