It was only a matter of time that they played on their name and called one of their albums Humanz . One thing is for sure, though – on their first album in seven years, Gorillaz have made a soundtrack to a bleak but still party-happy future. Gorillaz’ long-time collaborators De La Soul come back for thirds on Humanz , a thumping beat their bedrock on ‘Momentz’. Humanz is Gorillaz at their best yet again, with help from a lot of friends – because that’s clearly how fluid their setup is right now. Songs like ‘Carnival’ and ‘Let Me Out’ are quite similar in their structure, but that’s most likely intentional.
