★★☆☆☆Is there the stuff of a big musical in the life of Gloria Estefan? Before meeting her husband and musical partner, Emilio, while still in her teens and going on to sell more than 100 million records, Estefan grew up in Miami the daughter of parents who had fled Cuba during the revolution. She had to care for her father, José Fajardo, who fought in Vietnam then became ill with multiple sclerosis. She clashed with her proud mother, Gloria Fajardo, who once had a thwarted showbiz career of her own. She fought her way back to health after a bus crash in 1990 that led doctors to suggest she might not walk again.
