Middle school. So much of what is happening to your son is uncontrollable (from your side), and so there really isn't "one right thing" to say. Listening, while painful to the parent who wants to say the right thing, is a powerful parenting move. Also, I love the sharing your own stories from middle school, how you made it through. I also like Fagell's book "Middle School Matters" to give you some more ideas!
