Surgical masks manufactured by the Correctional Services Department are mainly supplied to the Government Logistics Department for distribution to various departments in need. An Ombudsman’s probe found that CSI-manufactured masks being sold in the city’s open market were those expired and supposed to be disposed of. The investigation also found that some government departments are mishandling the expired masks. After nearly nine months of investigation, the Ombudsman's report said some of the seven government department’s handling of expired masks are not ideal. However, the Ombudsman calls for greater transparency for the Government Logistics Department in its distribution of the CSI masks to statutory authorities.
