In a 51-page consolidated resolution approved by Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales on July 4, the office ordered that forfeiture proceedings be initiated against Purisima, his wife Ma. Prosecutors said the respondents accumulated unexplained wealth totaling P29,292,459.92. The Ombudsman also ordered Purisima’s dismissal after it found him administratively liable for grave misconduct, serious dishonesty and acquisition of unexplained wealth. According to a statement issued by the Ombudsman on Thursday, the combined lawful earnings of Purisima and his wife from 2000 to 2014 totaled P15,933,152.28. But the Ombudsman found that Purisima had other properties and business investments under his name and/or that of his wife or sons.
