GOLD FOR DANIEL WIFFEN! Team Ireland's Daniel Wiffen punches the water in delight! The field was condensed, but Daniel Wiffen surged to the front on the three-quarter juncture. It looked like the Italian, Gregorio Paltrinieri, was going to sneak gold in the final 100m, however Wiffen had other plans. He held his nerve and fought off both the Italian and USA's Bobby Finke to get home and secure gold.
