The former Olympic cyclist was travelling to work on Monday morning when the accident took place and was immediately taken to a nearby medical centre. In the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Jarrin represented Ecuador in the 4,000 metre individual pursuit; that made him the country's first cyclist at any Olympic Games.
