Oldham man who drove while high on cannabis is sentenced


Blake Parry, of Higher Lime Road, Oldham, was driving on Elton Head Road in St Helens, Merseyside, on August 15 this year, when he was found to have cannabis in his system. A test found that the 23-year-old had 8.5 micrograms of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main psychoactive constituent of cannabis, per litre of blood in his system. At Liverpool Magistrates' Court on October 16, Parry pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced. He was banned from driving for 12 months and was ordered to pay a fine of £233, a victim surcharge of £93 and court costs of £120, bringing his total costs to £446.
