Arooj Shah, who was elected this year, had her car set alight in the early hours of Tuesday. SponsoredGreater Manchester police (GMP) said that its officers, along with teams from the fire and rescue service, attended the blaze in Oldham at about 1.30am. It was “established that the vehicle was deliberately ignited, also causing slight damage to a neighbouring property,” the force said. A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and remains in custody.
