A massive blaze near Fort McMurray forced more than 80,000 people to abandon their homes two weeks ago APHundreds of Canadian oil workers were ordered to flee yesterday as a rapidly spreading wildfire advanced on their camps. The fire destroyed more than 2,400 buildings in Fort McMurray. There are approximately 4,000 workers at 12 oil-producing camps in the area, many at the large Suncor and Syncrude sites. The evacuations are the result of the restarting of a wildfire that forced more than 80,000 residents of local towns to abandon their homes two weeks ago. However fire fighters managed to save essential infrastructure in the oil-producing town, including a hospital, airport and water-treatment plant.
