Customs Director General Retired Maj. Gen. Vijitha Ravipriya said today that the samples were being tested in all 25 districts to find out if coconut oil containing toxic chemicals have been distributed in the local market. Customs has instructed the relevant companies to re-export oil consignment as soon as possible after the results confirmed the presence of alflatoxins. The Dankotuwa Police have seized two bowsers containing substandard coconut oil that have been recommended for re-export. The two bowsers have been handed over to the Customs, the Director General of Customs said. The Director General of the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, Dr. Siddhika Senaratne further stated that the export of coconut oil is being done under full supervision.
