ANAHEIM, Calif. — Japanese two-way sensation Shohei Ohtani threw a bullpen session Sunday about 90 minutes before he was to bat cleanup for the first time for the Los Angeles Angels. Ohtani, who bats left-handed and throws right, was moved into the fourth spot in the order because Albert Pujols got his first day off this season. A blister on his right middle finger forced Ohtani out after just two innings of his pitching start against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night. Ohtani is listed as the Angels’ starter for Tuesday night at Houston, opposing Charlie Morton. “I don’t know if we had any expectations one way or another,” Scioscia said about batting Ohtani cleanup so early in the season.
