Officials go door-to-door for mandatory evacuations after fire expands in Southern California's Angeles National Forest

Mandatory evacuations are in place after a wildfire expanded steadily in Southern California’s Angeles National Forest on Sunday. “Law enforcement is going door-to-door with a mandatory evacuation for Desert Front Road and Wild Horse Canyon,” the latest fire update said. Located around 23 miles outside the Los Angeles area, the forest is “within one of the driest, most fire-prone areas in the United States,” according to the Angeles National Forest site. “Southern California typically has a fire season of historically late June and then into the fall,” Chief Garcia said. “But we’re seeing activity now year round.”Angeles National Forest is already under fire restrictions expected to expand around the forest in coming months, he said.
