Officials asked to identify land to set up anganwadis in Koppal

Funds for construction of anganwadis in rural areas are already being released, but not for urban areas. Deputy Commissioner M. Kanagavalli on Monday instructed officials of the Women and Child Development and the Urban Development departments to identify land for construction of anganwadis in areas with large minority population. Presiding over a meeting here to review the Prime Minister’s 15-point programme, she said of the 1,792 anganwadis, 108 were functioning in minority colonies. Ms. Kanagavalli directed officials of all the departments concerned to hold a meeting to sort out the issue and ensure that the buildings are constructed. Of them, 45 had their own building, while the others were functioning out of rented buildings.
