Addis Ababa April 28/2022 /ENA/ Officials including Oromia Regional State President Shimels Abdissa, Shiferaw Shigute, Ethiopian Ambassador to Korea, Addis Ababa City Deputy Mayor Tiratu Beyene, among other officials have arrived at Hawassa airport this morning to celebrate the unifying Fichee-Chambalaalla celebrations. Sidama Regional State President, Desta Ledamo along with other officials of the region welcomed the guests at Hawassa Airport. Fichee-Chambalaalla is a New Year festival which enhances equity, good governance, social cohesion, peaceful co-existence and integration among Sidama clans and the diverse ethnic groups in Ethiopia. Communal events take place throughout the festival, including traditional songs and dances where every member participates irrespective of age, gender and social status. Parents transmit the tradition to their children orally and through participating in events during the celebration.
