Office, Retail, Apartments, Hotels Planned For Former Atlanta Braves Stadium

The former home of the Atlanta Braves could see more than 2M SF of office and retail buildings rise around the curved walls that once saw home runs. Georgia State University and its JV development partners have offered a few more details on the planned redevelopment of Turner Field and the surrounding property in a development of regional impact filing with the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. GSU and its partners — Carter, Oakwood Development and Healy Weatherholtz — bought the 68-acre parcel that includes Turner Field last month from the Atlanta Fulton County Recreation Authority. The Braves are building a new stadium, SunTrust Park, in Cobb County just outside Atlanta. As part of the deal, GSU will control the stadium and the former parking lot while Carter and its partners control 16 acres for surrounding development, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle.
