The driver, her boyfriend Campbell Thomas Klubein Page, 24, suffered moderate injuries and was charged with careless driving causing death. Page, a landscape gardener from Fendalton, Christchurch, originally appeared at Queenstown District Court before his case was transferred to Christchurch District Court where he admitted the charge. Judge O'Driscoll granted the discharge without conviction on the condition that Page pays $5000 to Thompson-Bush. Just after noon, Page met up with another 4WD vehicle with four others from out of town who were also completing the trip.
