Off-duty officer spots driver with whisky, makes arrest

An off-duty Peel Regional Police officer who works out of Bramalea’s 21 Division arrested a suspected impaired driver in King Township, less than 15 kilometres from the spot where the Neville-Lake children and their grandfather were killed by a drunk driver two years ago. Mark Ho Sue, who works in the 21 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau, was off-duty when he spotted the suspect’s vehicle. He pulled up next to it and saw the whisky, then pulled over the driver, putting him under arrest. When York Regional Police officers responded to the scene, they took the suspect into custody and, following a breath test, charged him with impaired driving and over 80. “We would like to thank the off-duty officer from Peel Regional Police for helping to keep York Region roads safe,” said York Regional Police Chief Eric Jolliffe.
