An off-duty officer for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs shot at someone trying to steal his motorcycle in a Panorama City neighborhood, police said. The shooting occurred about 5 a.m. in the 14400 block of Terra Bella Street, said Officer Aareon Jefferson, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department. Few details were released about the shooting, but police said the theft suspect was taken into custody.
