I think research has shown that even when people aren't pushed into gender specific roles they tend to gravitate towards roles traditionally associated with their biological gender. It just has to do with temperament differences among the sexes which is perfectly natural and probably biologically driven. For example, you will always have more male engineers and more female teachers no matter what you do to force gender neutrality.
