A 45-year-old woman from Odisha, who died on December 27, was found to have been infected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19, officials said on Thursday. Her genome sequencing result, showing that she had the Omicron variant, came on Wednesday, officials said. “The woman was found positive for Omicron. The cause of death can be ascertained only after the audit,” Director of Health Services Dr Bijay Mohapatra said. The state has so far reported 61 cases of the Omicron variant.
