Plans to pull down the cinema and turn it into a hotel and community space have been given the go ahead by Oxford City Council. Following its demolition, it will be replaced by a £37million city council scheme featuring a community space on the ground floor and five floors of hotel apartments, each with their own ensuite kitchen. The council said the Odeon was encouraged to engage with the procurement process, but the cinema operator did not submit a proposal. The commercial endeavours are on higher floors and we’ll serve the community on the ground floor.
