Oculus Slashes Prices On Rift Hardware

Virtual reality company Oculus VR announced dramatic price decreases on Wednesday, including a 25% cut in the retail price of its flagship Oculus Rift bundle. "We want to bring the best VR, the best headset, the best controllers, and the best content to the widest audience possible, so we're making it more and more affordable," says Oculus VR co-founder and VP of PC VR Brendan Iribe. The Facebook-owned company said that starting today, a bundle that includes its Rift VR headset and Touch controllers will retail for $598, down from $798. A Rift headset alone will retail for $499, down from $599, and the Touch controllers will drop in price from $199 to $99. Iribe also said Oculus will continue to expand its "Oculus Ready" program, in which the company partners with PC manufacturers to produce and brand computers designed and ready to support the Rift hardware.
