AMPANG JAYA: An octogenarian was burnt to death when a fire swept through two houses in Lorong Laman C1, Kampung Pandan Dalam here. The charred remains of Rakiah Manan, who was in her 80s, were found in the kitchen by firefighters at about 10.05pm Thursday. Pandan Indah Fire and Rescue Department chief Skein Citbanchong Wee San said the team of firefighters arrived at the scene 10 minutes after a distress call was received at about 9pm. He said there were no casualties in the previous incidents, which were caused mostly by faulty wiring in the houses. He urged house owners and Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) to follow safety standards to prevent similar incidents in the future.
