The OCTA Research group urged the government to retain the General Community Quarantine restrictions in the National Capital Region, saying the threat posed by other Covid-19 variants should not be underestimated. The group said the easing of capacities in some businesses and reopening of some industries may be allowed. The NCR, including Bulacan, is under GCQ but with some restrictions until June 30, while the provinces of Laguna, Rizal, and Cavite remain under GCQ with heightened restrictions. He added that while the region remains under GCQ, some businesses may be allowed to increase their capacities while establishments that have been closed may also be reopened. If we allow the Delta variant to come in, it will cause a surge that is worse in the NCR than what we saw earlier this year," he said.
