Amid continuing tension over his October 12 speech, President Sirisena went to India last weekend for a meeting with world leaders at the BIMSTEC summit. An hour after she left the place, former President Rajapaksa had called him (President Sirisena) and asked him whether such a letter had been signed. He (President Sirisena) said take into consideration the Government Analyst’s report regarding the weapons in the vessel. This was just before President Sirisena emplaned to India and the next day Premier Wickremesinghe, to Belgium. Official Government spokesperson Rajitha Senaratne’s remarks, if they were to be taken seriously, do as much damage as the claimed remarks of President Sirisena.
