That is why we remain convinced that the provision in section 1(4) of Public Office Holders (Declaration of Assets and Disqualification) Act, 1998 (Act 550), which gives a 6-month extension for making declarations, is unconstitutional and void. PRESCRIBED OFFICERSThe Constitution prescribed specific public office holders who were to declare, and allowed Parliament to extend the coverage to other public officeholders. Unfortunately, the vast majority of public office holders have simply failed, refused or neglected to make the declarations.
