Nominated MP Oburu Oginga wants the government to expedite investigations following claims by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria over a planned assassination threat against Cord leader Raila Odinga. Oburu asked the government to improve Raila’s security, arguing that if anything happens to him the government will be solely blamed. Oburu, Raila's older brother, said the inflammatory remarks should not be taken lightly despite the Cord leader forgiving Kuria. Speaking separately, ODM national chairman John Mbadi said the state has failed to give Raila with additional security despite Parliament endorsing it. Oburu said the remark is a confirmation of his concern last year that some East African presidents were plotting to assassinate Raila.
