Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Saturday said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the “lighthouse of humanity” for accepting the Rohingya who have fled atrocities in Myanmar’s Rakhine state. “Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given shelter to the Rohingya people who were forcibly displaced from Myanmar… She is the lighthouse of humanity,” Obaidul said while addressing a reception accorded to Sheikh Hasina at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. The prime minister returned on the day after a three-week visit to the USA and UK. The Awami League general secretary said: “Thousands of Rohingya people have shelter and a new life only because of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina…She took the right decision at the right time.”“You (Sheikh Hasina) have returned home after placing a five-point proposal before the world body… I congratulate you,” he said. He added: “Sheikh Hasina is the mother of humanity.
