Oakland Athletics Will Stop Paying Minor Leaguers, Furlough Scouts

Those players received $400 per week because of the March agreement, but as the end of the month approaches, at least one team is going to stop paying its minor league players. The Oakland Athletics announced on Tuesday that as of June 1, they would stop the $400-per-week payments to their farm system. A’s owner John Fisher shared the news in a letter to fans and team employees Tuesday. This week, team owners submitted a new proposal to players for the 2020 season.
