Vice President Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for defending her against a government official who called for her investigation merely for helping raise funds and resources for frontliners. The vice president thanked the President for his pronouncement that helping fellow Filipinos in the time of crisis is not a sin, Robredo’s spokesman, Ibarra “Barry” Gutierrez, said on Saturday. In a televised address late Friday, Duterte defended Robredo for providing free shuttle service and dormitories to healthcare workers as well as for supplying personal protective equipment to frontline doctors and nurses. “That is just right, asking help from your fellowmen,” Duterte said.
