Five tweens and teens have been charged with threatening schools on social media, Ontario’s provincial police said Tuesday as they reported a “spike” in online threats following a deadly school shooting in Florida last month. Four of the five were students at the schools they’re accused of threatening and the other was a former student, Leon said. Article Continued BelowOn Monday, for instance, police in Bathurst, N.B., announced they had arrested three people after social media threats sent two schools into lockdown. “When a school shooting happens at a high school, all of a sudden everyone is online looking for information about school shootings,” she said. “We just want the public and young children and young people to know: If they do something like this, they will be held accountable.”
