While there’s numerous factors that have driven the success of the Thunder this season, perhaps the most promising is the emergence of a star scoring duo. Not only does Thunder coach Mark Daigneault intentionally stagger Gilgeous-Alexander and Williams, but also Chet Holmgren who is Oklahoma City’s third scoring option. In fact, his 246 fourth quarter points is the ninth-most of any player it the league as well as the most on the Thunder. While Gilgeous-Alexander rests for the first four to five minutes of the fourth quarter, Williams puts in his work as the primary scorer. This has become even more apparent over the past month, as Williams has led the entire NBA in fourth quarter scoring on absurd shooting splits.
