OFW ID to undergo 3-month pilot run

THE new Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE)-issued overseas Filipino worker (OFW) ID card will first undergo a three-month pilot run before Filipino migrant workers can use it as an automated overseas employment certificate, among other benefits. The OFW ID card is a major component of the Integrated Department of Labor and Employment (iDOLE) system. After the pilot run, the ID card will serve as the Travel Exit Clearance of OFWs for two years from the date of issuance and it will entitle them to travel tax and terminal fee exemptions. “All the unique ID cards will be delivered to them, whether they are in the Philippines or overseas,” Bello said. “With the OFW ID card, our Bagong Bayani will no longer need to fall in line in transacting with government and private agencies for their overseas employment as they can now access the services online,” he added.
