In contrast to the €2,500 basic fee received by Stephen Kenny’s players for representing their country, Vera Pauw’s squad are paid €500. O’Gorman, who has 105 caps, was centrally involved during the famous 2017 player strike in highlighting substandard treatment by the FAI. Pauw is introducing a system whereby budding players train with boys’ squads but O’Gorman wants to see the full squad gathering for more regular training.
