Nyandarua County Director of Education Philip Wambua has revealed that the freezing temperatures in the region have seen 1,425 learners fail to report to school since learning institutions opened in January. The low temperatures in Nyandarua are responsible for complications like pneumonia and arthritis. Some of the biggest problems brought by the frigid temperatures are pneumonia and arthritis, with the bigger chunk of those affected being students in Form One. “We normally advise our students to carry extra heavy jackets, especially during the cold season. Apart from students, teachers in the region have also complained of perennial chest problems, forcing some of them to seek transfers to other schools.
