Nurul Izzah resigns as PKR vice president and state chairman

GEORGE TOWN: Nurul Izzah Anwar dropped a bombshell on Monday, announcing her resignation as PKR vice-president as well as relinquishing her post as Penang PKR chairman. I leave the decision as to my role in the Penang state level government linked companies to the party leadership. These division chiefs, she claimed “changed their support” after being summoned to meet the party president. She also took issue with Nurul Izzah’s appointment, labeling it inappropriate given that her father is PKR president. While acknowledging that the PKR president has the authority to select state chiefs in consultation with division chiefs, it was “highly unusual” and against the party constitution for the president to ignore the majority’s preference.
