Nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants at public hospitals and district health board (DHB) facilities across the country plan to strike on Wednesday after a third pay offer was rejected by union members on Monday. CHRIS SKELTON/Stuff New Zealand Nurses Organisation primary healthcare members rallied in Bealey Ave in Christchurch in September in support of their one-day strike for pay parity with DHB nurses. Now DHB nurses and hospital nurses will strike this Wednesday as they fight for better pay. The claim asked for DHB nurses, who were predominately women, to receive equal pay to similar professions that were male-dominated. ROBERT KITCHIN/Stuff Health Minister Andrew Little says there will be disruption to health services on Wednesday but there will be sufficient care to protect lives.
