However, what they assumed was Portuguese actually turned out to be Klingon - the made-up language used by the Klingon race in Star Trek. "One day I was curious what language the child was speaking so I looked up what Portuguese actually sounded like and realized it wasn't that. According to HelpfulButterscotch2 the boy's father is trying to recreate an experiment by D'Armond Speers, who attracted ire for only speaking Klingon to his son for the first three years of his life.
