A numerologist who believes numbers can help find the right partner or identify those at risk from suicide is standing for Auckland mayor. He becomes the eighth declared candidate, with John Banks still undecided ahead of the opening of nominations on Friday. Vaughan has several websites relating to numerology, in addition to his mayoral website, and said numerology could be applied in local government. "I know more about politicians than politicians realise - without even meeting them," he told Stuff. Eight candidates have declared they will stand, the incumbent Phil Goff, and challengers John Tamihere, John Palino, Craig Lord, Binh Thanh Nguyen, Joshua Love, John Lehmann, and Vaughan.
