Numbers and value of dairy farms continue to slideThe overall value of farms has fallen 4.3 per cent over the past year. In the year to June 2016, dairy farm sales dropped by 28 per cent compared to the year to June 2015. The value of finishing farms has also receded - by 9.1 per cent - over the past 12 months. Dairy farm prices have continued their downward slide, with the median price per hectare falling 8.21 per cent over the past 12 months, and just seven farms selling in June. Good beef finishing farms across the country were in short supply, as were grazing farms for beef breeding cows.
