New figures have revealed that the number of child sexual offences recorded by Thames Valley Police remain high – despite a drop of more than 20 per cent. The figures compiled the NSPCC show that in the Thames Valley 3,004 child sexual offences were recorded by police in 2022/23. This latest figure is 22 per cent lower than 2021/22 when 3,849 offences were recorded in the Thames Valley. Types of offences included rape, sexual grooming, sexual assault and sexual exploitation. The figures come as the NSPCC launches a new campaign in partnership with the Home Office to combat child sexual abuse.
