"Number of postal voters can only be made known when the agencies' rosters are out"

KUALA LUMPUR: The Election Commission (EC) will only be able to finalise the total number of postal voters whom now include civil servants from five new agencies once it has details on their duty rosters. “We can only know if there is a significant increase in postal voters, roughly one week before EC’s announcement on the issuance of ballot papers. The numbers of five agency members eligible for postal voting will be determined by the respective agency’s duty roster. For GE14, the largest number of these new postal voters is expected to be from the Health Ministry which employs 260,000 personnel nationwide. Meanwhile, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S Subramaniam said the actual number of public health personnel involved in postal voting could only be determined once the date for GE14 is set.
