The government now faces calls to tackle small migrant boats crossing the Channel. Border Force officers were called to Kingsdown, near Deal, at 7.30am after the group were found with a rigid-hulled inflatable boat (RHIB). They have all been medically assessed and handed over to immigration officials for processing, a Home Office spokeswoman confirmed. Mr Castaner wrote on Twitter: "We are coordinating to strengthen our action to fight the Channel crossings carried out by some irregular migrants on small boats at the risk of their lives." Mr Javid claimed he was keeping the number of Border Force vessels in the Channel "under close review", but claimed there was "no one easy answer".
